Development and production of a Z-Frame

Emphasis in this project was the development and the production of Z-Frame
structures. This contains the production of the Preforms and the resin grouting  with the help of the VAP-Method on an one-sided tool. The Z-Frame were developed and manufactured within the project 'EMIR' for Airbus Bremen for the employment in a test bowl.

The production of the 2D-Z-Frame-Preforms will be effected by the aid of the TFP-Technology at the company Hightex Verstärkungsstrukturen GmbH in Dresden. The production is divided into the placing of the single Carbon-Rovings with the help of the TFP-Technology and the cutting of the actual Z-Frame contour out. The exacly cutting of the contour of the 2D-Z-Spant-Preform took place with the help of a CNC steered Cutters. The cut of the 2D-Z-Spant-Preform contains the outside outline of the z-Spantes and the additional cutouts in the wall- and base area. These cutouts represent the "Stringerdurchbrüche" in the curved Z-Frame. For the drapery and the grout of resin an one-sided aluminum tool was developed. For the accurate positioning and drapery the tool was provided with equivalent analogy. This allowed to drap exaclty and reproducible the Z-Frame for preforms.

the grout of resin will be effected after the drapery of the Z-Frame preform on an one-sided tool with the aid of the VAP-Method.
