Fields of Research

General research interests are:

  • Synthesis, modification, characterisation and application of dendritic and dendronized polymers, especially sugar-decorated polymeric structures;
  • Using dendritic glycoarchitectures as anti-amyloidogenic agent toward beta-containing peptides and proteins in-vitro and to test its potential as neuro-protective materials in-vivo;
  • Establishment of peptide-ligand-neutravidin bioconjugates for the controlled targeting of drugs and drug complexes;
  • Polymersomes as enzymatic nanoreactors und carrier systems for enzymes as well as its use as biomimetic organelles;
  • Integration of polymersomes in multicompartment systems to fabricate biomimetic cell structures;
  • Objectives, such as diffusion properties, communication, loading and releasing of cargo (macro)molecules, but also adaptive and cyclic functions, concern the applicability of biomimetic structures and enzyme-transported/-loaded polymersomes;
  • Establishment of multienzymatic cascade reactions in microfluidic (multi)compartment systems and the application of hydrogels as valve material.
