In-situ generated elastomer blends
By in-situ synthesis of another polymer phase (for example, based on polyurethane) during the compounding of the rubber, materials with a synergistically improved property profile can be produced.
The elastomeric blends, generated via a pre-polymer route, exhibit a mixed phase morphology. The static and dynamic characteristics of the materials improve significantly with increasing polyurethane content.
Both, the compounding, as well as the reactive generation of the polyurethane phase can be economically carried out in conventional rubber processing equipment.
