Sustainable Composites
Fibre-reinforced plastic composites (FRP) are particularly important materials for lightweight construction. The many advantages of FRPs are accompanied by disposal problems arising from the production of an effectively bonded composite of fibre and matrix components.
Bio-inspired approaches for sustainable composites include recyclable and preferably degradable materials as well as clear concepts for recycling and reuse of the materials and manufacturing processes that save resources.
Research partner for the development of new glass fibres
Together with TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Institute of Glass Science and Technology, we are working on new continuous glass fibres for biomedical textiles and sustainable fibre-plastic composites.
