Areas of Research
In the focus of the studies of the department of Polymer Interfaces is the deep understanding of interfacial properties and based on that the development of strategies to tailor interfacial phenomena such as adhesion, cohesion (in composites and multi-component polymeric systems), wetting, friction and tribology. Therefore we use a broad material, structural and functional characterization of interfaces, which combines spectroscopic with physico-chemical methods and direct force measurements. Moreover we develop novel chemical approaches for the modification and design of interfaces using polymer grafting, polymer-brush-modification, coatings with core-shell hybrid colloids or plasma-modification.
