Sustainable Composites

Fiber-reinforced plastic composites (FRP) are particularly important materials for lightweight construction. The many advantages of FRPs are accompanied by disposal problems arising from the production of an effectively bonded composite of fibre and matrix components.

Bio-inspired approaches for sustainable composites include recyclable and preferably degradable materials as well as clear concepts for recycling and reuse of the materials and manufacturing processes that save resources.
