Max Bergmann Symposium 2022 highlights the potential of biology-inspired materials and systems for future technologies
On June 9th and 10th, the Max Bergmann Symposium "Assembling matter at all scales - from simple molecules to mighty materials" will take place in Dresden.
More than 120 scientists from over 30 countries will discuss new findings of interdisciplinary research on molecular self-assembly and the translation of materials and molecular machines into technological applications. Keynotes include talks by Professor Joanna Aizenberg (Harvard University) on "Cross-scale assembly of liquid crystals", Professor Bert Meijer (Eindhoven University) on "From supramolecular polymers to functional materials", and Professor William Shih (Harvard University) on "Polymerization of DNA origami". The translation of new material systems into medical devices is the focus of a contribution by Dr. Katrin Sternberg (B Braun AG).
The Max Bergmann Symposium as a conference series was initiated with the founding of the Max Bergmann Center for Biomaterials Dresden. This symposium is organized by junior group leaders Dr. Elisha Krieg and Dr. Lars Renner from the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research e.V. (IPF) in Dresden. The IPF houses the Max Bergmann Center for Biomaterials and is one of the world's leading institutions for polymer research. As a member of the Leibniz Association, the institute is dedicated to application-oriented basic research and, together with the TU Dresden and other institutions, is involved in the DRESDEN-concept alliance to raise the profile of Dresden as a center of science.
